An Englishman called Graham Saward – a real enthusiast of alternative technologies - has visited the site to assess the projects overall power requirements.
He has access to the latest products in the field and we are looking forward to getting deeply into the design of systems to support our power requirements
and to reuse any waste – such as grey water.
It looks as though a mix of solar and wind will suffice – with the possible backup of a generator fed on biomass – which as a side line would give us a bi-product
we can use to make soap!!
We hope to install a small solar system on top of the utility sheds as soon as possible - this will provide power during the day so we do not have to use a generator for the cement mixer and other equipment as well as a hot water supply.
Coming up...
Work is starting on laying major pipes throughout the campo for irrigation water – this could mean the only road to La Finca may be shut for days or weeks at a time
and hence delays in the delivery of materials - not to mention problems for us to get access to the land. Scarlett is off to find out more!
Iberbanda - a company that provide satellite broadband and telephone connections for remote areas - is due to assess the site for a connection – all being well we will soon have a solar powered office on the land!
